As the curtains close on the SmartShip Project, we are overwhelmed with gratitude and pride in what we've accomplished together. Our final workshop has been held on Thursday, 28th of March 2024. The event was kept in a hybrid way, as the partners have been gathered in ITML’s premises, in Athens, while the rest of the participants from everywhere, could just as easily join remotely.

SmartShip project is a European project, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovation Programme, which aims to develop a data analytics, decision support and circular economy–based multi-layer optimization platform towards a holistic energy efficiency, fuel consumption and emissions management of vessels. This final event was not as simple as it seemed and was a testament to years of dedication, innovation, and collaboration in transforming maritime sustainability and efficiency.

From insightful presentations on SmartShip’s architecture to engaging discussions on the integration of circular economy principles in the maritime industry, the workshop was a hub of knowledge and innovation. Our heartfelt thanks go to each speaker, participant, and member of the SmartShip consortium and our sister project HS4U EU project for sharing their insights and progress.

We would like to express our appreciation and a special thank you to Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd, for coordinating this project in a very smooth and efficient way. Worth mentioning also, the presence of our partner, CERC - Circular Economy Research Center (École des Ponts Business School), who have monitored and planned all the dissemination and communication activities of the project, and exploited our project results in all the interested stakeholders and course to other European bodies, with the main scope to enhance the project’s impact.

A special thank you to the rest of the partners, ITML, BlueSoft, Harokopio University of Athens, Epsilon, and Technische Universität Braunschweig for their unwavering commitment and expertise. Together, we've laid the groundwork for a more sustainable maritime future.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to the ripple effect of our achievements. The legacy of the SmartShip Project will continue to inspire and influence sustainable practices and technological advancements in the maritime industry.

To everyone who has been part of this journey - thank you. Your dedication, passion, and vision have made the SmartShip Project a resounding success.
